조그마한 도자기 조각에서 시작되었던 기억의 변형은 다르게는 시간의 재구성이라고 할 수 있다. 그것이 비록 가치 없는 흔한 깨진 그릇조각이었지만 과거와 지금의 미술가 자신을 재구성하게 한다고 한다.

사유(思惟)의 시간 Part II

누구나 삶속에 많은 사람들을 만나며 순간의 흐름을 느끼며 살아간다. 순간의 안(內)에는 사람들뿐만 아니라 다른 것들로 채워져 있음을 알게 된다. 사물, 대화, 시간, 사람 등…. 그것들은 때로 만남의 목적이 되기도 하고 동기가 되기도 한다. 오늘도 지나쳐버렸던 기억을... 그 어떤 것들을 통해 떠올린다.

추억을 되돌아보면 어떤 사실들은 시간의 흐름 속에서 변질된다. 하지만 변질이라는 표현보다는 변형이라는 쪽이 나에겐 더 흥미롭고 가깝게 느껴진다. 그 이유는 시간이 누적되어 변형된 사물은 또 다른 의미와 모습을 드러내기 때문이다.

조그마한 도자기 조각에서 시작되었던 기억의 변형은 다르게는 시간의 재구성이라고 할 수 있다. 그것이 비록 가치 없는 흔한 깨진 그릇조각이었지만 과거와 지금의 나를 재구성하게 한다. 과거의 순간과 지금을 연결하고 있는 기억 속 오브제를 통해 재구성하고자 한다.

시공을 초월한 새로운 순간과 기억의 낯선 재창조가 필요하다. 오브제는 시간 속에서 성장하고 변형되어 정리되는 듯 하지만 시간이 지나면 뫼비우스의 띠처럼 끝없이 새로운 형태로 재구성되고 창조되어간다. ---- 정혜숙


Time of Contemplation Part II

We get to have many encounters with people and experience fleeting moments in the course of our lives. We realize that each moment is not only filled with people but also objects, conversations and sensations of every kind. At times, they are the purpose or the cause of an encounter. Sometimes something can trigger memories that we have long forgotten up until today.

Some memories change with time. However, it seems to me that transformed memories are more interesting and appealing than changed ones. That's because time can transform an object's original meaning and shape and turn it into something else.

It happened to me when a pottery shard inspired me to transform a memory, it was like reconstructing time. The ordinary, valueless shard has made me reconstruct my past and therefore also my present. I want to reconstruct through the object that connects the past to the here and now.

A moment that transcends time and space is needed, and unfamiliarity to memory needs to be recreated. An object seems to grow and transform with time, but after a while it can be reconstructed and recreated as a new form like the Mobius strip. ----------- Hye-sook Jung
