Call for Applications to UPenn's Interdisciplinary MFA Program
The School of Design's master of fine arts program integrates study in painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and time-based media with an expansive curriculum that extends into the School of Design and greater university. The unique character of this program in tandem with an array of financial aid programs including merit-based fellowships, full-tuition diversity fellowships and opportunities to gain college level teaching experience has made the Penn MFA a uniquely transformative experience.
In addition to seminar and studio courses within the department that introduce a broad array of concepts and techniques, the program allows the integration of study in architecture, landscape architecture, cinema studies, music, language, literature, art history, philosophy, visual studies, business, engineering, and the sciences, drawing on the full range of resources available at the University of Pennsylvania.
Students receive weekly visits with distinguished artists, writers, curators, and critics in conjunction with a dynamic lecture series held at the Institute of Contemporary Art, on the Penn campus. Through the department's exhibitions program, students and visiting artists participate in, plan and realize installations and performances in eight on-campus galleries, as well as in off-campus exhibition sites in New York and Philadelphia. Penn's graduate program provides remarkable opportunities and challenges for artists seeking an MFA.
